Yom Chamishi, 25 Adar 5777

F-R cover banner 2

Every other year, since 1979, Beth Israel - The West Temple has staged an original musical show that is the centerpiece of a major fundraising gala that also includes wine, a silent auction, and a sumptuous dessert buffet.

Director Author and ChoreographerLongtime congregant Charlotte Feldman writes the songs and stories, based (loosely) on popular Broadway musicals, always involving themes of Jewish community and identity rooted in a strong congregation. Rhoda Rosen, a veteran actor who appears in many area productions, directs; with the able assistance of choreographer Diana Strongosky.

The shows involve children, older adults, and parents – even our rabbis – who act, dance, and sing together. Everyone has his or her special talents, some that they didn’t even know they had. Audiences, meanwhile, have a wonderful time watching their fellow congregants clowning around in costume, singing and bringing the story of our small but mighty temple to life.
