Circle of Friends

posted by Myrna Pendery on Friday, September 24th, 2010

Circle of Friends evokes the spirit of Tom Sawyer!  Rhoda Rosen and Barbara Schwartz are having such a great time sorting through boxes of Beth Israel photographs, that they want others to have as much fun as they are having.  Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 7Pm to 9Pm at Beth Israel the West Temple is our first meeting of the new year.  After a short service to welcome Cheshvan led by Enid, we will have a great time looking at old photographs, identifying the who, what, and when in them.  This is an essential step in sorting and preparing the photos to add to the Beth Israel archives at the Jewish Archives of the Western Reserve Historical Society.

We think this will all go better with whatever snacks you would like to bring and share.  We’ll provide coffee, tea, etc..  Please feel free to bring, spouses, friends, or anyone who has had anything to do with the Temple, Sunday School, Tot Shabbat, Galas, etc., etc..  You’ll love looking at the pictures, and we need all the help we can get!

If you need a ride, have any questions, or to R.S.V.P., please call Barbara Schwartz or Susan Wagner

David:  Poet, Warrior, Politician, Lover and Hero. Taught by Professor Ronald Brauner. This is a study of the many dimensions of one of the most famous persons in history, using classical and modern sources.  By popular demand Beth Israel- The West Temple is joining with The Siegal College of Jewish Studies to offer another course by Prof. Ron Brauner – and you don’t have to travel all the way to Beachwood to take it.  It will be taught for six weeks via teleconference in Ratner Hall at Beth Israel on Tuesdays, 7:30 – 9:30 pm starting on September 14. The cost of the course is $135.  Prof. Brauner has just announced his intention to retire at the end of this academic year, so this may be the last time you have the opportunity to learn from a renowned master teacher and scholar.  Registration instructions:  Call Ruth Kronick at 216-464-4050 ext. 101 and tell her you will be taking the course at Beth Israel.  You may pay by credit card over the phone.
