Yom Shabbat, 3 Iyyar 5777

Building front with menorah

Serving Northeast Ohio for more than fifty years, we are dedicated to the celebration of Judaism. As the only synagogue on the west side of Cleveland, we provide a vital core of Jewish life. Our mission is:

  • to provide a center of worship, education, and community for Jews in Cleveland’s western communities;
  • to help our children learn about Jewish traditions and values;
  • to give our members a tolerant and accepting environment in which to develop their own Jewish identities; and,
  • to assure the continuity of our people’s traditions, values, and life.

One of the things that make Beth Israel great is our focus on volunteerism. From our earliest history, through the present, and into the future, volunteers have organized our library, taught our children, managed our building, and developed programming for all. These efforts, over more than fifty years, strengthen the Jewish community in Northeast Ohio and contribute to our duty of tikkun olam, or repairing the world.

There is something for everyone at Beth Israel. Please feel free to explore our website or, better yet, to visit us in person. We know that you will see just how special a place Beth Israel is and come to care about it and its people as much as we do.
